What we keep about you, and why

Information, not immigration advice. SettledIn shows published UK data and rules. It does not tell you whether you qualify for a visa.

What we store

Personal data we store and why
WhatWhy
Your email address and a scrambled form of your passwordTo sign you in. We never store the password itself.
The device and browser you signed in fromTo show and end your sign-ins, and to spot misuse.
Your onboarding answers: university, course, dates, fee, city, goal, and nationality if you give itTo build your pathway. Nationality is optional and used only in anonymous counts.
Offers you enterTo compare them with your course.
Deadlines you addTo remind you of them (Plus).
Your alertsTo show you changes to the sponsor register and rules that affect your jobs (Plus).
Reports you saveSo you can open them again, exactly as they were, and download the PDF.
What a CV review foundTo show which qualifications and job titles your CV mentions. The file itself is deleted.
Your consents, with the version of the notice you agreed toTo record what you agreed to and when.
A parent's link to your account, and the email it was sent toSo a parent can pay for Plus, if you accept.
Which agency referred you, if one didTo include your report in your agency's fee and counts.
For a preview before you sign up: nothing about you or your answers. Only a scrambled form of your internet address, for one hourTo limit how many previews one connection can ask for. It is deleted after an hour. We also keep daily totals of previews, with nothing that identifies anyone.
Messages waiting to be emailed to youWe have no email service yet; messages wait until we do.
If you join the waitlist: your email address, which product you said you would buy, and an agency referral code if you gave oneTo email you once when SettledIn opens, and to count interest. We use the address for nothing else.
For food and faith near you: only the postcode you type, to find where it is. It is not keptWhat you look for (halal, kosher or vegetarian food, or a place of worship) stays in your browser and is never sent to us.

Data about courses, jobs, pay, rent and employers comes from public sources and holds nothing about you. Your answers are kept apart from it.

How long we keep it

  • Everything above is kept until you delete your account.
  • A CV file is deleted as soon as it has been read, and in any case within 24 hours.
  • A waitlist email address is deleted 12 months after SettledIn opens, or sooner if you ask us to remove it. You can ask at any time; joining the waitlist does not create an account.
  • Our audit log keeps a record of actions such as signing in. It uses a random reference, not your email, and stays after an account is deleted.

Who sees it

  • Nobody else sees your answers, pathway, reports or alerts. We do not sell or share them.
  • If an agency referred you, it can see that you have an account, as part of its sign-up and place counts. Only if you agree, it also sees the date you received your report, and your results are counted in its group figures, without your name (groups under 10 are hidden). It never sees your answers or your report.
  • If a parent pays for your plan, they see billing only: the plan, the price, the renewal date and whether the link is active.

Cookies

We use three cookies and no tracking or advertising cookies. That is why there is no cookie banner.

si_session
Keeps you signed in. Removed when you sign out.
si_csrf
Stops other websites sending forms in your name.
si_ref
Remembers which agency link you followed, for 30 days. Set only if you click an agency's link.

Deleting your account

Use “Delete my account” in Settings. It removes your account and everything listed above straight away. Only the audit log's random reference remains.
